Survivors

The people of Kenya are very kind and have a culture focused on personal relationships.  Therefore, Valenine's Day in Kenya is a huge deal...not just a Hallmark conspiracy to generate card and gift sales.

The entire day, both men and women, were wishing us a Happy Valentine's Day...even Air Traffic Control.  The hotels were awash with decorations and enthusiasm for the event was undeniable. During dinner, couples and entire familes, gathered to share an evening of laughter and fellowship.

The experience was inspiring...but it made home seem so far away.  Sometimes you have to travel half-way around the world to gain perspective on what is important. 

So girls...I finally understand why Survivor is your favorite show...you continue to prosper in spite of lonliness and hardship...your grace, it shines on me.  Happy Valentines Day!
