Half Way Home

As June comes to a close, unit members have taken notice that we are now past the halfway point in our yearlong deployment. Over the past 6-months, it has been our privilege to observe several historic events in the evolution of Iraq. Some of the milestones include:

January – The first nationwide elections in Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

February – Civil war is averted after the destruction of the Shia “Golden Dome” in Samarra.

May – Iraq’s first constitutional government is formed and assumes control in Baghdad.

June - Elimination of Al-Qaeda insurgent leader Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi in Baqubah.

We can only hope the second half of our deployment will be as interesting and productive as the first six months.
